The Person Behind Project Wild

Hello, I’m Delaney.
I’m a writer, an outdoor enthusiast, a lover of wildlife, and someone who has always been fascinated by the questions that don’t have easy answers.
Throughout my life, I’ve found myself drawn to the places where different perspectives meet, where conventional thinking is challenged, and where the stories that matter most are sometimes the ones nobody is talking about.
My professional background has taken me through business, operations, strategy, and project management. Along the way, I’ve organised events, worked with volunteers, developed ideas, and learned a great deal about what makes people and organisations tick.
But outside the world of spreadsheets, strategies, and deadlines, my interests have always pulled me towards something else: the natural world, storytelling, human behaviour, and the experiences that shape who we become.
Why Project Wild?
I’ve always believed that the world is rarely as simple as we would like it to be.
Conservation can present difficult ethical questions. People can carry experiences that others never see. And sometimes, the most meaningful conversations are the ones we avoid because they challenge our beliefs or make us uncomfortable.
I want to explore those conversations.
From the complexities of wildlife conservation and animal welfare to the overlooked trauma experienced by ordinary people, I’m interested in understanding the bigger picture, hearing different perspectives, and asking the questions that help us see beyond our assumptions.
I’m fortunate to have people in my own life whose experiences and viewpoints differ from mine. They remind me that meaningful conversations don’t require everyone to agree. They require a willingness to listen, learn, and remain curious.
Project Wild is my way of creating space for those conversations.
A Life Outdoors
The outdoors has always held a special place in my life. Through climbing, adventure, and my involvement in outdoor communities, I’ve experienced the friendships, challenges, and sense of belonging that can grow when people come together around a shared passion.
I’ve also seen how much dedication it takes to support others, whether through volunteer organisations, community initiatives, or work that often happens quietly behind the scenes.
These experiences have shaped my belief that nature is about more than landscapes and wildlife. It’s also about our relationship with the world around us, our connections with one another, and the things we discover when we step outside our everyday routines.
What I Hope to Do
Through Project Wild, I want to tell stories that matter, explore ideas that deserve closer examination, and bring attention to people and issues that are too easily overlooked.
I want to have conversations with people who disagree with one another. I want to understand the realities behind difficult conservation decisions. I want to hear from those who have experienced trauma without ever receiving the recognition or support they needed.
And I want to keep writing, asking questions, and learning along the way.
I don’t claim to have all the answers. I’m not here to tell you what to think.
I’m here because I believe there is value in looking a little closer, listening a little longer, and being brave enough to reconsider what we thought we knew.
If something you read here challenges your perspective, encourages you to ask a new question, or helps you understand someone else’s experience a little better, then Project Wild is doing what I hoped it would do.
Because, ultimately, this isn’t about having the last word.
It’s about starting better conversations.
Protect Nature. Tell Stories. Help People Heal.
Welcome to Project Wild.
Delaney
